About

Our Mission

The mission of the Universal Open Textbook Initiative (UOTI) is to improve the quality and accessibility of educational resources worldwide and provide a foundation of educational content that everyone can use and build on.

Whether you’re a parent homeschooling in Afghanistan, a science teacher in rural Kenya, or a humanitarian tutoring refugees in Venezuela, UOTI makes world-class educational resources accessible to all, in the languages learners know best.

How We Achieve Our Mission

We provide openly licensed textbooks aligned with rigorous standards used in advanced countries such as the United States and Singapore, and we make the same material available in multiple languages, including those spoken in the least developed countries.
